I’m a writer and storyteller with a passion for making a difference in the communities I serve. As a journalist for Education Week, The Post and Courier and Summit Daily News, I’ve written about the COVID-19 pandemic’s disproportionate impact on Hispanic communities, the impact decades of segregation have had on rural South Carolina towns and the potential for federal funding to turn public schools around.
While attending the University of Missouri (MIZ!), I used nearly every opportunity available to me to improve my reporting and writing skills. This included working as a reporter and Assistant City Editor for the Columbia Missourian, fact-checking political statements for PolitiFact Missouri and interning at The Independent during a study abroad trip in London.
In my free time, I enjoy snowboarding, yoga, reading, writing, watching hours of reality TV and playing with my cat, Doris.
